Public Information and Education

The Public Information and Education section fills the ICS Information Officer position when assigned by the Incident Commander at the scene of an emergency, assists the City Communications Officer, as directed, in local disaster situations, prepares and disseminates periodic public service announcements, develops and delivers fire and life safety education to the public.

This section also is responsible for the Youth Firesetter Intervention program and acts as liaison between the Fire Department and the Burn Institute.

The Public Information and Education section is coordinated by a Fire Captain.
